Zeekr X SUV & Zeekr 009: Hong Kong Debut for Premium EVs from Geely Holding’s Subsidiary
Geely Holding Group’s luxury electric vehicle arm, Zeekr (NYSE: ZK), marked a significant milestone in its global expansion strategy with the introduction of the right-hand drive Zeekr X compact SUV in Hong Kong on July 17th. The launch follows the successful unveiling of the model in Thailand just a week prior. In tandem, Zeekr previewed the eagerly anticipated Zeekr 009 multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), which is scheduled for release on July 19th in the city.
Partnering with local distributor Kam Lung Motor Group, Zeekr brought the right-hand drive variant of the Zeekr X to Hong Kong. The compact SUV is priced competitively at HK249,900(32,000), a slight uptick from its mainland China starting price of RMB 200,000 ($27,540).
In Hong Kong, the Zeekr X comes in two configurations: a single-motor rear-wheel drive model and a dual-motor all-wheel drive option. Priced at HK249,900𝑎𝑛𝑑𝐻𝐾269,900 respectively, these models boast impressive performance capabilities. The single-motor variant delivers up to 200 kW (272 hp) and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. The dual-motor version, with a combined output of 315 kW (428 hp), accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in a swift 3.8 seconds.
Both variants are equipped with a 66 kWh battery pack, offering WLTP-rated ranges of 440 km and 420 km for the single-motor and dual-motor models, respectively. The Zeekr X is also available in two trims in mainland China, with a starting price of RMB 200,000.
From July 20th, the Zeekr X and the new Zeekr 009 will be showcased at various Zeekr locations across Hong Kong, including the Zeekr Space in Wanchai and the Zeekr Gallery in Taikoo Shing.
Built on Geely’s Sustainable Electric Architecture (SEA), the Zeekr X measures 4,450 mm in length, 1,836 mm in width, and 1,572 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. Since its mainland debut on April 12, 2023, the Zeekr X has been offered in three versions, with prices starting from RMB 189,800 for the base model and RMB 209,800 for the higher trims.
The 2024 model year Zeekr X was unveiled on January 10th, with two variants both priced at RMB 200,000. This was followed by the 2025 Zeekr X launch on July 1st in mainland China, maintaining the same price point for its two configurations.
Zeekr’s commitment to becoming a truly international brand is evident in its recent moves. Pre-orders for the right-hand drive Zeekr X began in Thailand on March 25th, leading up to the official launch on July 11th. On June 6th, Zeekr announced the start of production for the right-hand drive Zeekr X SUVs, with delivery expectations set for the third quarter.
With a focus on global growth, Zeekr declared on June 6th its intention to fully engage with right-hand drive markets. Currently present in over 25 international markets, Zeekr aims to expand its reach to 50 global territories by 2024, according to Vice President Chen Yu’s statement during the Hong Kong event.
While left-hand drive vehicles dominate the Chinese mainland, right-hand drive models are preferred in Southeast Asian countries, the Commonwealth, and various island nations.
