Zeekr Unveils Technological Prowess with Debut of Zeekr 001 FR Electric Supercar

Geely Holding Group’s premium electric vehicle (EV) subsidiary, Zeekr, has officially introduced the Zeekr 001 FR (Future Road) electric supercar. The focus appears to be on highlighting its technological advancements rather than prioritizing high sales volume.

At the launch event held in Beijing on October 27, Zeekr announced the commencement of sales for the Zeekr 001 FR at a starting price of RMB 769,000 yuan ($105,100), which is notably lower than anticipated. Initially expected to be priced above RMB 1 million, this performance-focused supercar is based on Zeekr’s first production vehicle, the Zeekr 001 shooting brake.

Limited to a production of 99 units per month, deliveries within China are scheduled to commence this weekend, with a controlled release in global markets later, as per the company’s statement.

Previously unveiled on September 1 at a technical event, the Zeekr 001 FR was introduced as the fastest-accelerating mass-produced all-electric vehicle, boasting the ability to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 2.07 seconds. Powered by quad motors with a capacity of up to 1,265 horsepower, the company has now enhanced its performance beyond the earlier announced specifications.

With the guidance of chief performance advisor and F1 driver Kimi Räikkönen, Zeekr’s engineers have exceeded their initial promises. They have boosted the Zeekr 001 FR’s brake horsepower from the previously stated 1,265 hp to an impressive 1,300 hp, enabling the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 2.02 seconds with a rolling start, which is 0.05 seconds faster than the previously declared time.

Additionally, the EV manufacturer’s hardware and infotainment engineers introduced the Räikkönen mode, offering a comprehensive range of features for drivers keen on pushing the car to its performance limits.

The Zeekr 001 FR represents the first Zeekr model featuring an upgraded 800 V electrical system equipped with four in-house developed silicon carbide motors. This model showcases torque vectoring technology, distributing maximum power to each wheel and enabling agile maneuvers like tank turns.

The vehicle is powered by a 100 kWh Qilin battery from the prominent Chinese battery giant CATL, which is already in use across other Zeekr models. Leveraging the 800 V technology, the Zeekr 001 FR boasts swift charging capabilities, going from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 15 minutes.
