Xiaomi has officially revealed the production version of its highly anticipated second car, the Xiaomi YU7 SUV. The Xiaomi YU7 will roll off the production lines at the company’s sole factory in Beijing’s Yizhuang district. This information was disclosed through homologation filings submitted to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

In China, every new vehicle must undergo regulatory approval before being launched. While automakers often dislike the early reveals that accompany MIIT’s monthly publication of applications, Xiaomi embraced this opportunity. The company promptly released official photos of the YU7, showcasing the SUV in its best light and countering the typically unflattering MIIT images.

Xiaomi plans to officially launch the YU7 SUV in June or July 2025, despite homologation filings suggesting the vehicle is close to market-ready. The YU7 is estimated to be priced between 250,000 and 350,000 yuan ($34,000 to $48,000), positioning it as a direct competitor to the Tesla Model Y, which starts at 249,900 yuan ($34,000) in China.
