The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has officially revealed the battery specifications and range details of Xiaomi’s first-ever SUV, the Xiaomi YU7 AWD. This highly anticipated model is expected to launch in June or July 2025, with a starting price of approximately 250,000 yuan (34,500 USD). Positioned as a strong competitor to the Tesla Model Y, the YU7 will be available in both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations.
The AWD variant features a dual-motor setup, with the front motor producing 220 kW (295 hp) and the rear motor generating 288 kW (386 hp). These motors are paired with a ternary lithium battery pack, delivering impressive CLTC-rated cruising ranges:
- 750 km (14.9 kWh/100 km energy consumption)
- 760 km (14.8 kWh/100 km energy consumption)
- 670 km (16.6 kWh/100 km energy consumption)
With a curb weight of 2,405 kg, the YU7 AWD can reach a top speed of 253 km/h.

RWD Variant and Additional Features
Although the range details of the RWD version have yet to be announced, it is confirmed to feature a 235 kW (315 hp) rear electric motor and a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack. This version is expected to have a top speed of 240 km/h.

In terms of size, the Xiaomi YU7 measures 4,999 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, with a 3,000 mm wheelbase. Spy shots suggest that Xiaomi will offer multiple trim levels, including Standard, Pro, and Max. Additionally, the presence of roof-mounted LiDAR indicates that the YU7 will feature Xiaomi’s self-developed assisted driving system.
Expanding Xiaomi’s EV Lineup
Inside, the YU7 is expected to feature a high-tech cockpit with an ultra-wide screen, further enhancing its premium appeal. Xiaomi’s previous electric model, the SU7, has seen significant success, with monthly deliveries surpassing 20,000 units for four consecutive months. To support its growing EV lineup, Xiaomi expanded its retail network by adding 16 new stores last month, bringing the total to 216 stores across 64 cities in China.
