Media sources reported on July 20 that Leapmotor was engaged in discussions regarding technology collaboration with an overseas firm, indicating significant strides in this direction. Another report on August 2 stated that Volkswagen’s Jetta brand was in negotiations with Leapmotor. If successful, Volkswagen’s Chinese joint venture FAW-Volkswagen may acquire one of Leapmotor’s platform technologies. This move aligns with FAW’s internal communication that, if finalized, the Jetta brand would focus on the economy EV sector.

Amid these developments, Leapmotor’s Hong Kong-traded shares experienced a notable surge, witnessing an almost 12 percent increase at the time of this update. This escalation reflects the growing investor interest and industry recognition of the company’s potential contributions to the evolving EV landscape.
