Xitoyning EV akkumulyator ishlab chiqaruvchisi qurmoqchi a $2 Illinoys shtatidagi milliardlik zavod, Ishlab chiqarish boshlanishi bilan 2024
Gotion High-tech, a Chinese power battery company backed by Volkswagen, is set to build an elektr transport vositasi (EV) battery production facility in the United States. The $2 billion gigafactory is located in Illinois and is expected to commence production in 2024. This facility will focus on the production of lithium-ion battery cells, battery packs, and the integration of energy storage systems. When completed, it is projected to produce 10 GWh of battery packs and 40 GWh of battery cells, contributing to the strengthening of the US EV battery supply chain.
The project in Kankakee County, Illinois, is expected to create 2,600 full-time jobs with salaries exceeding 120 percent of the county’s average wage for similar job categories. The state of Illinois will provide support for the facility’s construction, offering a total incentive package valued at $536 million. This package includes tax incentives of $213 million over 30 years and 30 years of property tax abatement approved by the local government. Gotion will also receive $125 million in capital funding through the Invest in Illinois program.
The Chairman of Gotion, Li Zhen, emphasized the company’s belief in the value of the local environment and the support of the state government, as well as the prospects for the State of Illinois in the years to come.
This announcement marks Gotion’s continued investment in the US market. Oktyabr oyida 2022, the company chose Big Rapids, Michigan, as the location for a $2.36 billion battery component manufacturing plant. Upon completion, this facility is expected to produce 150,000 tons of cathode material annually and feature two 550,000-square-foot manufacturing plants and other supporting facilities. Qo'shimcha, two production plants dedicated to anode production will be constructed, resulting in the production of 50,000 tons of anode material per year.
Gotion High-tech is one of the world’s largest power battery manufacturers, bilan 7.8 GWh of power batteries installed in the first seven months of the year, according to data from SNE Research. The company held a global market share of 2.1 percent during that period. This move aligns with the company’s commitment to expanding its presence in the US and its contribution to the growth of the EV market in North America.
