BYD has officially introduced its compact elektr transport vositasi (EV) Delfin to the Malaysian market, marking its second model in the country following the Atto 3. Collaborating with Malaysian distributor Sime Darby Motors, the Dolphin was unveiled at a special event on July 27, as announced in BYD’s press release.

According to Liu Xueliang, general manager of BYD Asia-Pacific auto sales division, BYD aims to enhance accessibility to its products and services nationwide, in partnership with local entities.
Atto 3 has rapidly gained popularity in the Malaysian EV market, positioning BYD as the leading brand for EV sales in the country.
While BYD entered the Malaysian market in 2014, its initial focus was on commercial vehicles and local assembly of electric buses. The collaboration with Sime Darby Motors, beginning in October 2022, allowed BYD to import its passenger cars, leading to the launch of the BYD Atto 3 in December of the same year.
