Unveiling Changan’s Qiyuan Brand and its Vision for Intelligent Electric Mobility
Changan Automobile, a prominent player in the Chinese automotive industry, has unveiled its latest venture in the realm of electric vehicles (EVs) – the Qiyuan brand. The official launch of Qiyuan took place on August 27th, marking the company’s aspiration to craft a line of intelligent EVs that continually evolve.
Drawing inspiration from Eastern philosophy, the Qiyuan logo seamlessly melds elements of the “square” and “circle.” The brand’s design philosophy finds its roots in the binary digits 0 and 1, symbolizing boundless opportunities and limitless potential.
Qiyuan’s product lineup encompasses three distinct series: the A-series, Q-series, and E0-series. In a remarkable feat of engineering and innovation, the brand plans to introduce four new models within the current year. This lineup includes the A05, A06, A07, and Q05 models.
As the timeline stretches towards 2025, Qiyuan is poised to broaden its product offerings, aiming to establish a global presence with an expanded product matrix comprising a total of ten offerings. To realize this ambitious vision, Changan has committed an investment totaling 200 billion yuan (equivalent to $27.4 billion) by 2030. This financial commitment will facilitate the augmentation of its research and development as well as innovation teams by over 10,000 skilled individuals, cementing Changan’s position as a world-class automotive powerhouse.
Underlying these aspirations is a profound commitment to sales growth. Changan envisions a remarkable feat: achieving an annual sales figure of 5 million vehicles by 2030. A significant portion of this target is earmarked for the Qiyuan brand, with a goal of contributing 1.5 million units towards the broader Changan family’s target of 4 million units.
The initial stirrings of the Qiyuan brand were witnessed two months prior, as the brand offered a sneak peek into its essence via its inaugural Weibo post on June 26th. This post unveiled a tantalizing video previewing the Qiyuan A07.
Speaking of the Qiyuan A07, this remarkable creation has already been entered into China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) filing catalog. Positioned as a mid-to-large-size sedan, the Qiyuan A07 boasts dimensions of 4,905 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and 1,480 mm in height. These measurements create a canvas for innovation, and the vehicle further boasts a wheelbase spanning 2,900 mm.
Much like Changan’s other celebrated sub-brand, Deepal, the Qiyuan A07 will offer consumers a choice between a battery-electric vehicle (BEV) variant and an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variant.
