Xpeng and Didi Forge Strategic Partnership in Smart EV Advancements

This collaboration between Xpeng and Didi is not limited to the asset acquisition alone. Simultaneously, the two companies have entered into a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement. This agreement marks Xpeng as the first automotive manufacturer to receive complete backing from Didi’s dynamic ecosystem.

The collaborative efforts between Xpeng and Didi encompass a wide range of domains. These include joint ventures in research and development for innovative smart EVs, integration of Xpeng’s electric vehicles into Didi’s shared mobility platform, joint marketing initiatives, financial and insurance services, charging infrastructure development, advancement of autonomous driving technologies, and mutual expansion into global markets.

In a strategic move aimed at expanding its market presence, Xpeng is preparing to launch an all-new EV brand, codenamed “โมนา,” slated for a 2024 debut. This new brand will target the burgeoning mass market segment with vehicle offerings priced around RMB 150,000. The goal is to drive the widespread adoption of smart EV technologies within this price range, catering to a vast customer base.

A key element in this endeavor is Didi’s extensive mobility ecosystem, which will provide invaluable support to the “โมนา” project by granting access to Didi’s nationwide shared mobility network.
