SAIC-GM-Wuling Unveils Refreshed Yep Mini EV and New Yep Plus Model under Baojun Brand
Baojun’s New Tianyu Architecture Sparks Rapid Product Expansion: Unveiling Four Models Including Yep Mini EV and Yep Plus
SAIC-GM-Wuling is ramping up its product launches, leveraging the innovative Tianyu architecture. This year’s plan includes the introduction of four new models, among them, the revamped Yep mini electric vehicle (EV) and the larger Yep Plus.
Today, Baojun, a brand under SAIC-GM-Wuling, officially unveiled the 2024 variant of the Yep, signaling a strategic shift towards broader market appeal with an adjusted starting price.
Sporting a design reminiscent of the Suzuki Jimny, the 2024 Baojun Yep adopts the Square Box design language, catering specifically to a youthful demographic.
Pricing details reveal a slight increase from its predecessor, with the two variants now starting at RMB 80,800 and RMB 90,800, respectively, up by RMB 1,000 from previous versions.
Originally launched in May 2023, the Baojun Yep retains its core specifications as a 2-door, 4-seat SUV, maintaining its dimensions and powertrain for consistency within SAIC-GM-Wuling’s lineup of mini EVs.
Powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor and equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery, the Yep offers a range of 303 kilometers and supports fast charging, ideal for urban commuting.
In addition to the Yep, Baojun introduces the Yep Plus, a four-door SUV offering increased space and versatility. Available in two variants, with prices starting at RMB 93,800 and RMB 103,800, respectively, the Yep Plus boasts a larger battery and extended range, catering to diverse consumer needs.
Furthermore, Baojun unveils the Tianyu EV architecture, featuring three platforms catering to various vehicle segments and powertrain configurations, from mini-cars to mid-size cars, encompassing both pure-electric and hybrid options.
With plans to accelerate product launches based on the Tianyu architecture, Baojun aims to introduce two additional models later this year, expanding its portfolio and catering to different market segments. The Yep and Yep Plus represent the first offerings on the S and M platforms, with two more models slated for release in the second half of the year, targeting larger families with versatile SUV options.
