Nio’s new EC6 starts at $2,750 more than the ES6
Nio has unveiled the new EC6, marking the completion of the transition from the older NT 1.0 to the latest NT 2.0 platform for all its models. The starting price for the new EC6 is RMB 358,000 ($49,200), which is RMB 20,000 ($2,750) more than the starting price of the new ES6 at RMB 338,000.
The launch event of the new EC6 was held in a unique format, with a Nio staff member presenting the model to a family customer. Nio founder, chairman, and CEO William Li’s introduction of the model was treated as background information.
The new EC6 is considered a more personalized niche compared to the new ES6, which was launched on May 24 and is seen as a crucial non-failure for Nio.
In terms of specifications, the new EC6 measures 4,849 mm in length, 1,995 mm in width and 1,697 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,915 mm. It shares the same LiDAR and camera setup on the roof as other NT 2.0-based models and has similar front and taillight designs.
The vehicle is powered by dual electric motors manufactured by Nio’s electric drive systems division in Hefei, Anhui province. These motors have a maximum power of 150 kW and 210 kW respectively and can support a top speed of 200 km/h. This powertrain specification is consistent with that of the new ES6, ET5, and ET5 Touring. Nio’s more expensive models such as ES8, ES7, and EC7 are powered by stronger motors with front motors maxing out at 180 kW and rear motors at 300 kW.
