The quality rankings are based on a scoring system where a lower score indicates higher quality, and there are no score caps. Here’s a breakdown of the rankings:

In the first half of 2023, a total of 34 NEV brands were assessed, with 23 of them scoring higher than the average score of 183 points. The top five brands in terms of quality were Voyah, ARCFOX, Smart, Aion, and Hycan. These brands were recognized for having a low risk of latent defects and a high level of reliability in terms of quality.

Notably, among the top 20 brands, Denza, Zeekr, Gaohe, AITO, Geely Geometry, and Jixing also performed well, particularly in terms of the number of customer complaints, indicating their strong quality performance.

BYD scored four points above the industry average, while Tesla (China) slightly exceeded the average score. On the other hand, 11 brands, including NIO, Jiangling New Energy, Rising Motors, AIWAYS, and Chery New Energy, scored below the industry average, with Changan Deepal ranking the lowest in terms of quality.

NIO, a prominent Chinese electric vehicle brand, had a somewhat disappointing performance, with its quality ranking score falling slightly below the industry average. Similarly, Rising Auto, IM Auto, and Dipper, which target mid-to-high-end consumer groups, also had overall quality scores lower than the industry average.

The China Automotive Quality Network is China’s first official platform for monitoring automobile quality complaints, overseen by the State Administration for Market Regulation. The rankings are determined based on five key factors: complaints and failures, risk of defects, reliability, safety, and environmental protection.

These quality rankings provide valuable insights for consumers and stakeholders in the Chinese NEV market, helping them make informed decisions about the quality and reliability of different brands and models.
