New Electric Hatchback: GAC Aion AION UT Unveiled, Set to Compete with BYD Dolphin
The upcoming GAC Aion AION UT has recently been showcased through official photos released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. This new addition to the GAC Aion lineup, a fully electric hatchback, is set to make its public debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November, with plans to expand into the European market thereafter.
The GAC Aion AION UT’s design leans toward a rounded aesthetic, featuring uniquely shaped front headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights. Both sides of the front bumper are adorned with “田”-shaped lighting elements, while a vent with angled lines enhances the center of the front fascia, contributing to a distinctive and modern look.
Additional design details include semi-concealed door handles on the sides and a charging port conveniently placed on the right front fender. The car also sports decorative elements on the rear side windows, adding a sleek finish to its profile.
At the rear, the AION UT maintains a streamlined appearance, equipped with a rooftop spoiler and “田”-shaped lighting within the taillights. Reflective strips are positioned on either side of the rear bumper, and the “UT” badge on the lower right corner of the tailgate underscores the vehicle’s identity.
In terms of dimensions, the AION UT measures 4270 mm in length, 1850 mm in width, and 1575 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2750 mm. This makes it slightly larger than its potential competitor, the BYD Dolphin, which has dimensions of 4125/1770/1570 mm and a 2700 mm wheelbase. The AION UT also offers optional 16-inch and 17-inch wheels.
GAC Aion is equipping the AION UT with several customizable features, including an optional sunroof, monochrome body finishes, D-pillar trim, front and rear cameras, multi-colored rear spoilers, and privacy glass, allowing buyers to personalize their vehicles.
Powering the GAC Aion AION UT is a 100-kilowatt electric motor, enabling a maximum speed of 150 km/h. It pairs with a lithium iron phosphate battery, though further details on the battery’s capacity are yet to be disclosed.
With its impressive specs and unique design, the GAC Aion AION UT aims to make a strong impression at the Guangzhou Auto Show and stands poised to compete head-on with established models like the BYD Dolphin.
