Li Auto’s Li L6 Captured in Spy Shots During On-Road Testing
Li Auto’s confidence in the forthcoming Li L6, projected to be the top-selling model within its L-series, was emphasized by the company’s leadership earlier this month.
As Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) readies for the launch of the more affordably-priced Li L6 SUV next year, the vehicle has been observed undergoing road tests.
Renowned bloggers @科技PRO and @魏峰Kipak recently shared a total of three spy shots, captured yesterday and today, that showcase the Li L6 cruising on Chinese roads.
As evident from these images, the model’s exterior design aligns with the prevailing style of Li Auto’s existing vehicles, featuring the distinctive cut-through headlights and taillights.
Presently, Li Auto’s portfolio consists of three models—Li L7, Li L8, and Li L9—all of which are extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) priced at over 300,000 yuan ($41,200).
In a bid to diversify its lineup, the company is poised to launch its inaugural battery electric vehicle (BEV) by the end of this year. Anticipation surrounds the company’s claim that its forthcoming MPV will assert itself as a top-seller in China, commanding prices exceeding 500,000 yuan.
The Li L6, expected to become Li Auto’s flagship offering below RMB 300,000, holds the promise of emerging as the company’s primary revenue driver. The “L” in its nomenclature symbolizes Li Auto’s EREV SUV models.
On September 22, 2022, through a Weibo announcement, Li Auto revealed its intention to introduce the Li L6, a midsize five-seat SUV priced under RMB 300,000.
By the year 2025, Li Auto’s diverse lineup will feature a super-flagship model, five EREVs, and five BEVs, as unveiled on April 18, the inaugural day of the Shanghai auto show.
The company aspires to cater comprehensively to family user needs within the above-RMB 200,000 market segment by that time.
During an analyst call held on August 8, following the announcement of its second-quarter earnings, Li Auto’s management expressed robust confidence in the Li L6’s competitive prowess. The model is anticipated to secure the highest monthly sales within the L series.
Furthermore, Li Auto has set its sights on challenging established German luxury car manufacturers—Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi—in the Chinese market by 2024. The ambition is to ascend as the country’s premier premium brand, as articulated during the earnings call.
Li Auto, having achieved sales of over 30,000 units for two consecutive months, is targeting a 40,000-unit sales benchmark within a single month in the fourth quarter, constrained only by capacity limitations.
Looking ahead to 2024-2025, Li Auto asserts that it has devised capacity plans to seamlessly accommodate production and delivery needs.
