Li Auto Set to Release Affordable Li L6 SUV on April 18
Li Auto Unveils Affordable Li L6 SUV Launch Event on April 18
Mark your calendars! Li Auto is gearing up to introduce its latest addition, the Li L6 SUV, set to debut as the most budget-friendly model in the company’s lineup.
Scheduled for 8 pm Beijing Time on April 18, Li Auto will kick off the launch event for the eagerly anticipated Li L6, as announced today on Weibo.
The Li L6 is poised to be a five-seat luxury SUV tailored for families, although specific details are yet to be disclosed by Li Auto.
Renowned as China’s premier extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) manufacturer, Li Auto boasts a lineup featuring the Li L7, Li L8, and Li L9, all serving as pillars of the company’s sales strategy.
On March 1, Li Auto marked a significant milestone with the introduction of the Li Mega MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle), its inaugural battery electric vehicle (BEV) model, priced at RMB 559,800 ($77,400) and currently the brand’s priciest offering.
Positioned as Li Auto’s most affordable model, the Li L6 will undercut its counterparts. Presently, the entry-level Li L7 starts at RMB 301,800 for the 2023 Air version and RMB 319,800 for the 2024 Pro variant.
First mentioned on September 22, 2022, Li Auto teased the arrival of the Li L6, a mid-to-large-size five-seat SUV priced below RMB 300,000, signaling the company’s commitment to accessibility.
According to an April 6 announcement, the Li L6 is crafted on Li Auto’s second-generation EREV platform, which underwent a three-year development period with an investment exceeding 2 billion yuan.
The strategic timing of the Li L6’s launch, just ahead of the Beijing auto show, suggests Li Auto’s intent to maximize attention for its newest offering without competing with the flurry of new releases during the event.
The 17th Beijing International Automotive Exhibition (Auto China 2024) is slated to run from April 25 to May 4, 2024, marking its return after a four-year hiatus due to Covid concerns.
As per regulatory filings on January 15, the Li L6 is reported to measure 4,925 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, 1,735 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm, offering a sleek and spacious design.
Despite initial sales targets of 800,000 vehicles in 2024, Li Auto’s revised expectations now range between 560,000 and 640,000 units for the year, reflecting adjustments following the Li Mega’s launch performance, as reported by local media outlet Xchuxing on March 21.
