As Chinese automakers continue to extend their global outreach, Great Wall’s entry into the Indonesian market underscores its commitment to offering smarter and environmentally conscious vehicle choices to a broader international audience. This latest move positions Indonesia as the ninth ASEAN country to welcome Great Wall, following successful entries into markets such as Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam.

Previously, on August 2, Great Wall celebrated the launch of its GWM brand in Vietnam with an event held in Hanoi, where the Haval H6 HEV was introduced.

Notably, Great Wall’s efforts in the new energy vehicle (NEV) sector are evident. The company reported a remarkable increase in NEV sales, selling 28,896 units in July alone, marking a 163 percent surge from the previous year’s 10,994 units in the same month. Furthermore, this figure represents an 8.35 percent rise from June’s sales of 26,643 units. Cumulatively, Great Wall’s NEV sales in the January-July period reached 121,965 units, reflecting a substantial 64 percent year-on-year increase.

In tandem with Great Wall’s expansion, Neta Auto, a Chinese electric vehicle startup, also made a significant stride by entering the Indonesian EV market. During the GIIAS exhibition, Neta Auto unveiled three models, which garnered considerable attention. Indonesian customers were offered the opportunity to reserve these models during the event, with official sales anticipated to commence in the fourth quarter.

As the Indonesian automotive sector welcomes these developments, the influence of Chinese automakers on the global market continues to grow.
