BYD’s New DM Hybrid Technology Achieves 2.9L/100km Fuel Efficiency and 2,100 km Autonomie

BYD has unveiled its fifth-generation DM (Mode double) hybrid technology, featuring an impressive fuel consumption rate of just 2.9 litres par 100 kilometers at low charge and a combined range of up to 2,100 Kilomètres. This next-generation technology, known as DM 5.0, was introduced at an event in Xi’an, Province du Shaanxi, consolidating BYD’s leadership in the new energy vehicle (NEV) secteur.

BYD, which entered the automotive industry in 2003 through the acquisition of Qinchuan, began its plug-in hybrid technology research and development in 2004. The first-generation DM hybrid platform launched in 2008 with the BYD F3DM, the world’s first plug-in hybrid vehicle.

Dans 2021, BYD introduced the fourth-generation DM platform, offering both the performance-focused DM-p and the energy-efficient DM-i versions. The technology played a significant role in helping BYD reach its 2023 sales target of 3 million units with its Glory edition models.

The new fifth-generation DM technology, announced by BYD Chairman and President Wang Chuanfu, boasts a world-leading engine thermal efficiency of 46.06 pour cent. Vehicles equipped with this technology offer fuel consumption as low as 2.9 litres par 100 kilometers at low charge and a combined range of up to 2,100 Kilomètres, tripling the range of conventional fuel vehicles.

Le BYD Qin L DM-i et Sceau BYD 06 DM-i are the first models to feature BYD’s fifth-generation DM technology and were also launched at today’s event.
