Electric MPV Li Mega Featuring 710 km Range and CATL Qilin 5C Battery Set to Debut in China on March 1
Li Auto Unveils Li Mega: China-Bound Electric MPV Launching March 1, 2024
Li Auto has officially announced the launch date of its highly anticipated all-electric MPV, the Li Mega, set to hit the Chinese market on March 1, 2024, with an enticing price below 600,000 yuan (approximately 84,700 USD). The Mega’s pre-sale kicked off at the Guangzhou Auto Show on November 17, offering an exclusive promotion for early adopters. Customers placing orders before March 1 will benefit from a complimentary upgrade from the standard 7 kW AC charging pile to the advanced 20 kW DC charging pile, valued at 10,000 yuan (about 1,400 USD).
Originally slated for a December 2023 release, the Li Mega’s launch was delayed, possibly due to the manufacturer incorporating additional enhancements based on feedback from pre-order customers, particularly concerning adjustments to the second-row seats.
Positioned as a spacious MPV, the Li Mega boasts dimensions of 5350/1965/1850 mm, with a wheelbase measuring 3300 mm. Impressively, it achieves a drag coefficient of 0.215Cd, a figure claimed by Li Auto to be the lowest among mass-produced MPVs.
The powertrain features a dual-motor four-wheel-drive system, with the front and rear motors delivering maximum powers of 155 kW and 245 kW, respectively. The combined peak torque stands at 542 Nm, propelling the Li Mega from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds, with a top speed of 180 km/h.
The vehicle’s energy is supplied by CATL’s Qilin 5C ternary lithium battery pack, boasting a capacity of 102.7 kWh. This enables an impressive CLTC cruising range of 710 km and a comprehensive power consumption of 15.9 kWh/100km. Notably, the Li Mega supports 5C ultra-fast charging, featuring an 800-volt architecture and a peak charging capacity of 552 kW. According to Li Auto, it takes a mere 12 minutes to replenish 500 km of range.
As of February 29, Li Auto has successfully deployed 300 supercharging stations, further enhancing the convenience of Li Mega owners.
Market-wise, the Li Mega is positioned as a “family technology flagship MPV” and the “high-speed rail for the whole family,” characterized by its distinctive waterdrop-shaped front and fastback roof design.
Inside the Li Mega, the luxurious interior features a four-spoke steering wheel, a 4.82-inch LCD instrument panel integrated with the steering wheel, a 15.7-inch central control screen, and a 15.7-inch co-pilot entertainment screen. The spacious 7-seater layout (2+2+3) incorporates seats wrapped in Nappa leather material, with additional features such as a refrigerator accessible from the second row. Moreover, the third-row seats can be folded forward, expanding the trunk’s longitudinal depth from 680 mm to 1066 mm.
