BYD Unveils Dolphin EV in Singapore: The Next Generation of Electric Mobility
BYD Expands Global Presence: Dolphin EV Launches in Singapore Following Success in Hong Kong, Australia, and Brazil
BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDY) continues its international expansion with the launch of the Dolphin electric vehicle (EV) in Singapore, marking its entry into yet another promising market. Having introduced the compact EV in late May in Hong Kong, and subsequently in Australia and Brazil in late June, the Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) giant is now partnering with Singapore dealer Vantage Automotive to bring the Dolphin to Southeast Asia.
The BYD Dolphin launch event took place on July 3, making it the second all-electric passenger car model offered by BYD in Singapore after the highly successful Atto 3. As stated by James Ng, Managing Director of BYD Singapore, the Atto 3 became the top-selling all-electric vehicle in the region between January and May of this year. With the introduction of the Dolphin, BYD aims to appeal to customers of all ages in Singapore and significantly expand its presence in the country.
Originally released for sale on August 29, 2021, in China at a starting price of RMB 116,800 ($16,120), the BYD Dolphin stands out as an all-electric compact car built on BYD’s advanced pure electric platform e-Platform 3.0. Equipped with a blade battery, the Dolphin offers exceptional performance and efficiency. In Singapore, the Dolphin is now available at a starting price of S$156,888 ($115,990), which includes the Certificate of Entitlement (COE) required for vehicle ownership and usage.
Singapore joins an expanding list of markets where the Dolphin has made its mark, following successful launches in Hong Kong, Australia, and Brazil. The continuous growth of BYD’s NEV sales reflects its increasing global popularity. In June alone, BYD sold an impressive 253,046 NEVs, representing a significant 88.79% increase compared to the same month last year and a 5.34% growth from May’s sales of 240,220 units. Furthermore, BYD sold 10,536 NEVs in overseas markets during June, showcasing a steady 3.26% increase from May.
As BYD expands its presence worldwide, it continues to be a driving force in the electric vehicle industry, offering innovative and high-quality products that cater to the evolving needs of customers. With the Dolphin’s arrival in Singapore, BYD reinforces its commitment to sustainable transportation and its dedication to providing cutting-edge EV solutions to markets across the globe.
