BYD Qin L Plug-in Hybrid Sedan, Featuring a 90 km Electric Range, Spotted During Road Test
Recent spy shots of the newest BYD PHEV, the Qin L, undergoing road tests have surfaced, revealing the undisguised design.
Part of BYD‘s Dynasty series, which includes models like Qin, Tang, Song, Yuan, and Han, the Qin L is positioned above the Qin PLUS, a compact sedan, with an expected starting price of around 120,000 yuan (16,700 USD).
The Qin L’s exterior aligns with the design language of the BYD Han, featuring elongated front headlights and a large grille integrated into the bumper. The side profile displays two distinct character lines reminiscent of the Han. With dimensions measuring 4830/1900/1495 mm and a wheelbase of 2790 mm, the Qin L surpasses the current Qin Plus model, offering a larger overall size.
Inside, the car boasts a fully digital dashboard complemented by a sizable central touchscreen. The sporty steering wheel comes with built-in controls, and beneath the touchscreen, a wireless charger is visible. With its longer wheelbase compared to the Qin Plus, the Qin L promises increased rear passenger space and is expected to house BYD’s latest infotainment system.
The BYD Qin L is equipped with a plug-in hybrid system, featuring a 1.5L engine and an electric motor utilizing BYD’s 5th-generation DM-i powertrain system. The engine generates 74 kW, while the electric motor produces up to 160 kW. The car will be powered by lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, offering consumers two options: 15.874 kWh for a 90 km EV range and 10.08 kWh for a 60 km EV range.
As part of BYD’s successful Dynasty series, the Qin Plus PHEV sedan achieved remarkable sales of 482,145 units in 2023, establishing itself as one of BYD’s best-selling models. The upcoming Qin L PHEV sedan is poised to expand the Qin family further, promising exciting updates in the near future. Stay tuned for more developments on the Qin L.
