BYD introduces Tang EV in Ecuador following the display of 3 other models 2 months prior
BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has introduced its flagship SUV, the Tang EV, in Ecuador, marking the fourth model unveiled by the company in the country. The Tang EV made its local debut at the Guayaquil Auto Show and boasts impressive specifications, including a seven-seat configuration, 509 hp, 700 Nm of torque, and acceleration from 0-100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. Powered by BYD’s signature blade battery, the Tang offers a CLTC range of 635 kilometers.
With the introduction of the Tang EV, BYD becomes the first brand to offer a complete lineup zero-emission vehicles in Ecuador. In addition to the Tang EV, BYD previously launched three all-electric models in May: the Han, Yuan Plus, and Dolphin. Santiago Mena, the brand manager for Andor Corporation, BYD’s distributor in Ecuador, highlighted that BYD now operates five stores in the country and is establishing a localized sales and service system in collaboration with Andor.
In May, BYD held a brand launch event in Quito, Ecuador’s capital city, where it announced a strategic partnership with Andor. As part this partnership, BYD models will be showcased in three prominent shopping centers: Quicro Shopping, Paseo San Francisco, and Mall del Sol. Over the next six months, Andor plans to establish six points of sale in Quito, Guayaquil, and Manta, with further expansion to 12 points of sale by 2024.
BYD is actively expanding its presence in international markets, with a particular focus on the Americas. On July 11, the company launched BYD World, an interactive virtual dealership, in collaboration with AI and metaiverse company MeetKai. Initially launched in Ecuador, BYD World will soon be rolled out across all Latin American countries.
In terms of sales performance, BYD reported impressive figures for June. The company sold 253,046 new energy vehicles (NEVs), representing an 88.79% increase compared to the same month last year and a 5.34% increase from May. Furthermore, BYD sold 10,536 NEVs in overseas markets during June, marking a 3.26% increase from May.
