BYD Introduces Seal, Song Plus, and Qin Plus Models in the United Arab Emirates
BYD Expands Hybrid Vehicle Lineup in UAE with Seal, Song Plus, and Qin Plus Models
Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer BYD has unveiled its latest offerings, including the Seal, Song Plus, and Qin Plus models, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This marks a significant move as BYD, having previously introduced the Han and Atto 3 battery electric vehicle (BEV) models, now brings plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) to the UAE market for the first time.
The introduction of these three models brings BYD’s product lineup in the UAE to a total of five, as stated in a recent press release. The company entered the UAE passenger car market in June the previous year, launching the Atto 3 in collaboration with local partner Al-Futtaim Electric Mobility Company. The Atto 3, also known as the Yuan Plus in China, represents BYD’s first global model.
In 2023, BYD witnessed a remarkable 62.3 percent year-on-year increase in NEV sales, totaling 3,024,417 units, with passenger NEVs accounting for 3,012,906 units and commercial NEVs contributing 11,511 units. Overseas NEV sales surged to 242,765 units, marking a substantial 493.51 percent year-on-year growth.
Looking ahead, BYD aims for an ambitious 2024 sales target of 4 million units, with a higher forecast of 4.2 million units provided to suppliers. This includes a plan to deliver 2 million BEVs and 2.2 million PHEVs. A recent report suggests that BYD is gearing up for a broader offensive against gasoline vehicles by launching next-generation PHEV and BEV platforms, as part of its ongoing commitment to sustainable mobility solutions.
