While the official details about the event remain limited, the event’s promotional poster showcases an SUV, presumably the first model under the brand, known as the Leopard 5.

The name “Fang Cheng Bao” was officially introduced by BYD on June 9. Subsequently, on July 4, it was disclosed that the inaugural model would be named Leopard 5.

Market analysts expect the Leopard 5 to target a price range spanning from RMB 400,000 ($55,283) to RMB 600,000. This strategic pricing strategy is poised to expand BYD’s market coverage, extending beyond its conventional focus on the sub-RMB 300,000 segment.

BYD has been gradually building anticipation for the Fang Cheng Bao brand over several months. As early as March, Auto in China obtained spy photos of the model showcasing the cryptic code “2316” adorned on the vehicle’s body. Insights from that time unveiled that the digits correspond to dual motors (2), triple locks (3), a new platform (1), and a June release (6).

However, an update posted by Fang Cheng Bao on June 21 depicted the number on the car as “2318,” suggesting a slight postponement of the model’s debut to August from its initially intended June launch.

On July 21, Fang Cheng Bao offered a Weibo video, offering a comprehensive view of the Leopard 5’s exterior design from various angles.

It is important to note that while the upcoming event is focused on brand and tech revelations, the full-scale official launch of the Leopard 5 might be slated for a later date.
