2025 BYD Seal Unveiled: New LiDAR Technology and 800V Electric Architecture

BYD has officially unveiled the 2025 BYD Seal, showcasing a range of new features and upgrades during a debut event held yesterday. This latest model introduces a roof-mounted LiDAR laser sensor and adopts an 800V electric architecture, enhancing its capabilities with high-power DC fast charging.

Battery Options and Range

The 2025 BYD Seal offers two battery configurations: 61.44kWh and 80.64kWh. Depending on the chosen variant, the vehicle’s range spans from 510 to 650 kilometers, based on the CLTC test standard. The innovative cell-to-body design integrates the battery seamlessly into the chassis, preserving interior space.

Enhanced Performance

The new BYD Seal boasts an electric motor with a maximum speed of 23,000rpm, elevating the top speed from 180km/h to 240km/h. Acceleration from 0 to 100km/h is achieved in just 3.8 seconds, transforming the Seal into a high-performance, pure-electric four-door coupe.

Model Variants and Pricing

The 2025 BYD Seal is available in four versions: the 510 Standard, 650 Long-Range, 650 Intelligent Driving, and the high-performance 600 Four-Wheel Drive Intelligent Driving version. Prices range from RMB 175,800 to RMB 239,800.

  • 510 Standard Version: Equipped with a rear-mounted electric motor delivering 231PS and 380Nm of torque, this variant accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 6.5 seconds, with a top speed of 220km/h. It features a 61.4kWh battery, providing a range of up to 510 kilometers and supports both 7kW AC and 180kW DC fast charging, charging from 10% to 80% in 25 minutes.
  • 650 Long-Range and 650 Intelligent Driving Versions: These variants also come with a rear motor, but with enhanced power output of 313PS and 380Nm. They achieve 0-100km/h in 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 240km/h. With an 80.64kWh battery, they offer a range of 650 kilometers and support up to 230kW DC fast charging, reaching 80% charge in 25 minutes.
  • 600 Four-Wheel Drive Intelligent Driving Version: This top-tier model includes an additional motor on the front axle, bringing the total output to 530PS and 690Nm of torque. It is the only four-wheel drive variant, accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of 240km/h. It features an 80.64kWh battery, offering a range of 600 kilometers and supports 230kW DC fast charging.

Design and Safety Features

The 2025 BYD Seal retains its familiar exterior design, with dimensions of 4800×1875×1460mm and a wheelbase of 2920mm. Notable updates include a red “BYD” logo at the rear and a revamped interior with a new four-spoke steering wheel, hidden air-conditioning vents, and a redesigned center console. The large display screen remains, with minimal physical buttons.

Safety has been significantly upgraded, with all models featuring 13 airbags. The integration of LiDAR detectors enhances advanced driving assistance functions, enabling semi-automatic driving (NOA) and high-precision automatic assisted parking (AVP).
